The Gryphon took Alice to a large courtroom. (Грифон привёл Алису в большой зал суда.)

The King and Queen were there, with a crowd of people around them. (Там были Король и Королева, а вокруг них — толпа народу.)

The White Rabbit was next to the King. (Рядом с Королём стоял Белый Кролик.)

He had a trumpet in one hand, and some paper in the other. (В одной руке у него была труба, а в другой — бумага.)

There was a table in the middle of the courtroom, with a large plate of tarts on it. (Посреди зала суда стоял стол, а на нём — большое блюдо с пирожками.)

"They look delicious," thought Alice. («Какие они, наверное, вкусные», — подумала Алиса.)

The King was the judge, and the jury were animals and birds. (Судьёй был Король, а присяжными — звери и птицы.)

The first witness was the Hatter. (Первым свидетелем был Шляпник.)

He had a cup in one hand and a piece of bread and butter in the other. (В одной руке он держал чашку, а в другой — кусок хлеба с маслом.)

"Can I finish my tea first?" asked the Mad Hatter. («А можно мне сначала допить чай?» — спросил Безумный Шляпник.)

"Oh, just go away," said the King. («Ну и уходи, — сказал Король.) "Call the next witness!" (— Вызовите следующего свидетеля!»)
